Our Rating:
Stella loops is Unhappybirthday's fifth album, the band formed in Wismar in 2012 they are now based in Hamburg they are Tobias Rutkowski and Daniel Jahn who are joined on this album by producer Jonas Meyer, plus several guests including Jimi tenor, Martha Rose and Andreas Dorau.

The album opens with one of the singles from the album Nova it's a rather glacial relaxing song with some sampled bird noises and other synth washes and loops to decorate the track as the singer slowly intones the lyrics while you relax and drink in the sounds.

Uberall is dreamy synth pop with the voice of an angel (Martha Rose) floating through the mix surrounded by the programmed drums and percussion.

Eolomea sounds like you're floating in space and searching for the missing space cargo ships the film of the same name is about. With other worldly sounds, a gentler feel than you might expect.

Gus is super dreamy laid-back song for Gus whoever he is, they sound like they love him, that may be explained in the German lyrics, either way Gus should be happy to have this song made about him.

Transit is a slow synth pop song of I guess longing, from the feel of the German vocals, that are quite breathy, as they whisper in your ear, as the synths keep everything rather relaxed. This has an ethereal chilled out feel to the paradise he's dreaming of.

Lass Uns Uberlegen has voicebox robotic vocals gently emoting at you, as the gorgeous sweeping synths, slow beats caress your mind.
Luxor feels like music for sitting on a luxury yacht, watching the sunset too, rather than for riding a camel through the valley of the kings. Lush, dreamy very calm before the storm begins, rains pattering ending.

Phantom is a very calm softly sung ghost story, that will creep up on the unsuspecting listener, scaring the hell out of them, when they figure out what he's singing about, the Phantom takes over there lives with the pulsating angelic voice from the distance.

Jimmy has phone tones, with late night phone sex style vocals, telling Jimmy just what he wants to hear, the odd loops repeat then mutate, the more I hear the vocals the more I'm reminded of the Japanese vocals on David Bowie's It's No Game but slowed down, before Jimi Tenor's flute takes us to an altogether funkier place.
