Review: 'Kilguss, Jessie'
'Wuthering Heights'

-  Label: 'Bandcamp'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '7.12.22.'

Our Rating:
Wuthering Heights is the latest single from Jessie Kilguss following on from her recent album What Do Whales Dream About At Night? That was produced by Charlie Nieland at Saturation Point Studios in Brooklyn. It features the guitar playing of Andrea Longato and Charlie Nieland on Glockenspiel.

I'm the wrong person for this review, as I've never liked Kate Bush's original, a song that annoyed me for years, the video even more. So, for any cover of this song to work for me, it must either reveal something new or musically mangle it. This version comes closer to the former, doing no mangling whatsoever, as this is stripped back to its essence, thankfully at no point getting overblown, as this is slowly deliberately strummed guitar, that has some strings added to it, a gently intoxicating Glockenspiel part.

This cover works in the way Feist works when she covers songs wistfully, if you love the original then you will undoubtedly like this take on it.
