Review: 'Tyrrell, Jim'
'The Joke'

-  Label: 'Robo Jack Records/Bandcamp'
-  Genre: 'Folk' -  Release Date: '22.12.22.'

Our Rating:
The Joke is the latest single by New Hampshire musician Jim Tyrell.

The Joke has a funk folk feel, with a tune that has almost rap sung vocals on this tune about trying to change and become better than you once were, the organ solo is worth the price of admission alone, as he tells us to give him 7 years.

Although the press release claimed the b-side was The Button the actual tune that downloaded with it on my computer was A Week Without Ears live at Inspire Cafe which is a decent coffee shop folk tune, gently strummed with a nod or two to the 60's folk scene, the lyrics are cool imagining what it would be like to be deaf for a week, now it's unclear if this is to stop listening to all your nagging or not.

But of course, The Button is on the Bandcamp page and is live at The Meadowbrook and has an easy listening piano and drum accompaniment as this reasonably bitter break up song unfolds, as I wonder what he can mean by saying she lived the American Way.

The Ep closes with now a sparse acoustic strummed song about another relationship hitting the rocks, as the time for change is Now as that electric guitar comes in to emphasize his need for catharsis, as he searches for lights on the horizon for some signal.
