Our Rating:
Beauty in Chaos latest single is a cover of the Concrete Blonde classic Bloodletting, Released for Halloween, I seem to have missed it at the time. I was one of only 6 fans who showed up to see Concrete Blonde’s first ever London show on the Bloodletting Tour at the Subterania supporting Steve Wynn back in 1990, Johnette Napolitano was not a happy performer that night, I had to go to Toronto to actually see them with a proper audience in 1992 at the Opera House. as sadly Concrete Blonde's and Johnette’s solo london shows have never done well.

That said they have always had iconic status for those of us in the know over here, as much for Tomorrow Wendy as for Bloodletting, so I was very happy to be sent this rather cool cover from the always captivating Beauty In Chaos, Michael Ciravolo's collective who for once allow Michael to sing lead vocals, with backing vocals from Whitney Tai, Tish Ciravolo and Kat Leon and Sax by Mars Williams.

This single also comes with a fabulously atmospheric video.
Bloodletting opens with a super warm feel to the drums and bass as the vocals come in to illustrate this story of blood lust in New Orleans, this is far sultrier blues goth than Johnette's original version. This is Smokey dark visions of all that's happened between you to make those accusations, as the sax blows through the howls of pain at everything falling apart as you stalk those New Orleans streets in search of some answers. The vocals become breathier as the lyrics become more dreamlike, dancing in the dark once more.
