It’s 2023. You wouldn’t know it listening to this. Just as punk threw itself towards an endless circle of diminishing returns by throwing out bands who all sounded exactly the same only worse than their predecessors, so emo and punk pop have done likewise, only faster and more ignominiously by virtue of being lame from the outset.
‘911’ sounds like any moment from the last 20 years or so, and the band look like it, too. The song’s got guitars and bluster, and that’s commendable, but it’s the very definition of generic and the whiney vocals are just nauseating. The world simply doesn’t need this limp as fuck template-based identikit stuff posturing as being ‘alternative’. It was beyond its use-by date when it started as a thing, and its predictability is beyond festering now. Please, just stop.
