Our Rating:
Scottish songsmiths Six Storeys High have arrived with an impressive and eagerly awaited debut. If you like your music full of catchy hooks, big melodies, and sing-along choruses then you should bag yourself a copy of the eponymous 'Six Storeys High' EP.

The band, made up of Stephen Gray (vocals/guitar), Scott Lackie (bass), Jamie Lindsay (drums) and Ross Paterson (guitar) formed at the age of 14 at Craigmount High School in their hometown of Edinburgh. Since making the finals of Xfm's Winter Wonderland contest and winning the Edinburgh Schools Battle of The Bands, the band have been playing relentlessly in the capital and beyond and gathering a loyal following.

This is what Scotland does better than anywhere else in the world: intelligent pop music with an injection of aggression and downright bitterness. Six Storeys High have written an EP that is full of anthemic and unstoppable songs. Songs full of breakups that are heartfelt and uplifting at the same time. Pick of the bunch 'Slide Away' emphasises this with a bouncing chorus that epitomises the EP.

Whether it is my love of Scottish bands or my gravitation towards heart thumping melodic pop, Six Storeys High possess something truly great and look set to cement themselves in my music collection after such a shining debut.

'Six Storeys High' is out 28th May through Fourtrak Records. In support of the release the band will be playing a seven-date Scottish tour.
