Two years on from their successful rejuvination of New Cross's Amersham Arms into one of the South's premier drinking / eating / dancing establishments as well as award winning venues in Sheffield, Bristol and Leeds, and fresh from the triumph of the third Field Day festival in Victoria Park, 580 are set to sprinkle their fairy dust on a new Brixton venue titled The Rest Is Noise.

Emerging into a South London that is cultural thriving (reasons to be cheerful including Corsica Studios, Horse Meat Disco, the Hannah Barry Gallery, Bugged Out! at Fire, The Amersham Arms as well as cherished institutions such as Brixton Academy and The Ritzy Cinema) 580's objective is to pool existing local talents and traditions, with the best up and coming new bands / djs / promoters (curated by Paul Lilley formerly of Vice magazines East End boozer The Old Blue Last) to deliver a vibrant melting pot of cultural activity - the kind of arts hub that Brixton, and the South has long been overdue. The venue will benefit from the installation of a proper stage with excellent sight lines, and in the great tradition of Brixton sound systems, earthquaking bass at the flick of a switch from a sound rig built from components of legendary Notting Hill Carnival systems. Also, a late license til 3am on Friday and Saturday nights and 1am throughout the rest of the week means the partying can carry on til the early hours.

The pub will also receive a full makeover by 580's spin off art collective 'house of girls' who promise ''a left field selection of emerging illustrators, painters and new media artists" to adorn the walls, one of which will feature a giant 12 by 24 foot wall of recycled mobile disco light boxes! The 'window of opportunity' at the front of the pub meanwhile, will act as a creative space for up and coming artist from the south and beyond to make their mark. First up are self described 'life size illustrators' Jiggery Pokery (www.jiggerypokery.biz).
