Having already confirmed Pavement, Big Boi, Major Lazer and Cymbals Eat Guitars for 2010’s August event, Norway’s Øya Festival is treating Londoners to a special one off showcase with handpicked guests next month. Showcasing Øya’s support of talented homegrown acts with two Norwegian bands on the bill, plus one hotly tipped new British band, it is sure to be a great night for all at Koko on 26th February. The New Wine top the bill at this must see show, ahead of the release of new 'Bridge' EP. I Was a King and Goldhawks offer the support on the night.

Bergen four-piece, The New Wine are making big waves at home and abroad with their delicious brand of groove based pop songs. With influences including Michael Jackson, LCD Soundsystem and Koji Kondo (the acclaimed Nintendo composer), The New Wine combine pop, funk and rock to a very danceable effect. Having played Øya Festival last year, The New Wine went on to tour Europe where they supported the Whitest Boy Alive amongst others.

New single ‘Bridge’ is packed with breezy pop-melodies and crisply produced rhythms, offering a refreshing and creative take on the normal structural mechanics of other well-executed tunes of this ilk. Originally released last year, the band are re-releasing this track as part of a four track EP, alongside the catchy, bass-driven, disco-inflected ‘I Had To Tell You’ and cosmic re-rubs by London’s mIGHTY mOUSE and Norwegian up-comers Frisvold and Lindbaek. Details of a new album with some special input and guests will be released shortly.

Øyafestival is the largest outdoor music festival in Oslo, Norway and after the massive success of last year’s event - the 8th year where tickets have sold out months in advance - its status was cemented as one of the best in Europe. Promoting a diverse line up from across the globe – 2009 saw Arctic Monkeys, Röyskopp, Wilco, Fever Ray, Madness, Lily Allen, Bon Iver, Grizzly Bear, The Very Best and The Big Pink all grace one of the 4 stages. More acts for 2010 to be announced shortly.
