Review: 'LAST TRANSMISSION'
'All The Time In The World'

-  Label: 'Self-released'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '17th June 2013'

Our Rating:
At least the press release is telling the truth when it describes LAST TRANSMISSION as being "UK Tunesters": better that than claiming they are a band that are apparently Newcastle Upon Tyne's answer to Jimmy Eat World, The Foo Fighters and Manic Street Preachers. that's the problem in itself -they just sound like they have taken a blueprint off a shelf and followed it.

On all five songs of the All the Time In The World I couldn't detects a single original part as it is all so derivative of Biffy Clyro recreating the Manics recreating the Buzzcocks etc. To such a degree that unless they are spectacularly good live, the chances of any of these songs sticking in my head is remote.

As they ask on the second song Anything To Anyone "What are you doing to yourself?" I have to answer "boring myself by listening to you." Even the cool guitar solo in the middle of Mess You Make, a song about splitting up from a car crash partner, can't make the song sound essential enough to be heard again.

As they sing on 24, about "all the time in the world passing you by", the song passes me by and 10 minutes later,it will just be another bland, modern Indie-style rock song; as memorable as anything you'd hear from Sum 42 or Green Day or any other similar band you care to mention.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the playing or production, mind, just lacking in originality. If I was under 20 and had little knowledge of rock's past history I might be convinced but I'm not. Sorry. Actually, the band sum it up best on the final song, Separate Ways, "this is where we say good bye." Yes, indeed it is.
