Our Rating:
There's something more than a little ironic about reviewing something tantamount to a perfect summer single as you're looking out on a landscape being drenched by torrential rain and trying not to surrender to the very real possibility of flooding.

Such is your reviewer's situation this damp November morning, so it's a measure of TAHITI 80'S ability with a warm, upbeat pop song that he doesn't want to throw this - their new single, "1,000 Times" -straight out the window with the bathwater, despite its' relentlessly positive outlook.

Actually, after the unfeasibly catchy "Soul Deep," this one was the most obvious choice of single from the French quartet's "Wallpaper For The Soul" album and it does stand confidently on its' hind legs here.

Admittedly, the band's curiously 80's, Style Council-bothering sound does sound kinda anachronistic in the current climate, but quality will out and with Fender Rhodes and gracious wafts of strings from the Urban Soul Orchestra in tow, "1,000 Times" basically does the business in style.

At a time when the inkies are already wasting too much time bitching about The Darkness's bloody Christmas single, this does sound a bit odd, but it will surely be a radio staple anyway. As frontman Xavier Boyer sings here: "Time will come and I don't think I will let another chance pass me by." Good advice: heed it and get their album while you're at it.
