Review: 'WHITE CLOUDS & GUNFIRE'
'For All Of the Non Believers'

-  Label: 'slowmotion'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '2nd September 2013'

Our Rating:
After several listens I am definitely in the Non Believers camp when it comes to White Clouds & Gunfire. I found the band's sub- Lacuna Coil indie metal rather bland and boring unlike the Press Release that reckons they have "Unbridled energy and copious Monstrous hooks", which is strange as I don't remember any of the songs after hearing them 5 or 6 times.

When I started to write notes for this review, it took me 'til Pebbles (track 6) before I had anything to note down as it had just gone by me as background metallic punk up to that point. It stands out by sounding like a Lacuna Coil b-side as the boy/girl dynamic in the vocals and the almost bloke choir works quite well.

By far the best song on the album is Dreams, which sounds a lot like Feeder but with a woman singing and the gang choir retorts from the blokes work pretty well. It's the one song worth downloading off this album. Even if lyrics about dreams crashing to the ground are likely to be prophetic in relation to the band's career than anything else unless they can find a way of sounding less bland and far more original than they currently do.

But, hey, less jaded listeners might get more excited by this than I did.
