There aren’t many bands to have come out of Lincoln, and even fewer good ones. I mean, Swing Out Sister don’t count, and besides, that was almost 30 years ago. The Cigarettes only achieved a cult following and we’re going even further back. So what’s emerged from the city this millennium? Well, after a powerhouse of a debut EP bursting with megalithic riffs and nods to Melvins, Queens of the Stone Age, Tool and Nirvana, Blind Wives are threatening to put the city back on the musical map with the release of ‘Spall’.
With a more commercial sound than any of the tracks from the debut EP, it’s a stonking bass-driven Biffy Clyro-esque rocker. It’s backed with a brace of ball-busting B-sides that prove Blind Wives have got the chops.
