When a teenage artist is already getting comparisons to Coldplay and Carole King for only her second album, chances are they've got something right.
After a debut album which mainly consisted of quirky covers, 'Fire Within' is Birdy's first long player which consists of original tracks, all co-written by the artist herself.
There's folk, there's pop, and a touch of indie, as each of the songs shows off a different aspect to the youngster's personality.
It demonstrates a remarkable maturity in her songwriting, influenced no doubt by the stellar host of writers who helped her along the way. But this is another step on a career ladder which started promisingly and will only get better as Birdy learns and progresses.

Now on her second album, Birdy's break came as winner of the national 'Open Mic UK' competition. It's worth saying that the contest is currently taking entries for next year's competition, so visit the website if you think you'd like to follow in Birdy's footsteps - http://openmicuk.co.uk/
