Review: 'LEITH, KAYLEIGH'
'This Woman'

-  Label: 'Amazing Records'
-  Genre: 'Alt/Country' -  Release Date: '12th September 2013'-  Catalogue No: 'AE55321'

Our Rating:
Kayleigh Leigh is not backward in coming forward. "Show me a stage and I'm getting on it" she brashly declares on the very first track Born Readyof her sophomore disc.

The other nine tracks rattle briskly through a range of stridently clichéd love interest songs in which her ego is always carefully foregrounded.

Backed by a bevy of Nashville session musicians, Leith comes over like a countrified version of Avril Lavigne which in my book at least is no compliment.

The title track, This Woman, has vague shades of Mary Chapin Carpenter's Shut Up And Kiss Me but pales by comparison with such artists as she never convinces that she sings what she means or means what she sings.
