Review: 'HAIOKA'
'Harumi EP'

-  Label: 'Emerald & Doreen Records'
-  Genre: 'Ambient' -  Release Date: '29th November 2013'-  Catalogue No: 'EDR033'

Our Rating:
The record features six gently drifting instrumental electronica pieces to contemplate while tending to your Zen garden.

This EP takes its name from Harumi Shibukawa, the man who invented the Japanese calendar in 1685.

It follows hot on the heels of the EP Blowin' In The Wind Of Love which was also released on the Berlin based Emerald & Doreen label in September 2013.

The sound processing of Tokyo's Shintaro Haioka has a distinctively Japanese character that blends classical instrumentation with a contemporary digital pulse.

The impressive results seem to straddle the quest for quiet meditative moments with the more frenetic energy of the modern day floating world.

The title track Harumi and the closing tuneStanding In The Storm encapsulate this best but the record should be listened to in its entirety to get the full magical experience.
