Review: 'FutureAges'
'002 EP'

-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '10th February 2014'

Our Rating:
Things are looking good for FutureAges. 2013 saw the band personally selected by Yoko Ono to perform at this year’s Meltdown Festival at London's Southbank, receive extensive radio play of their debut ‘001 E.P’ from John Kennedy of XFM and they can name Scroobius Pip amongst their fans.

Perhaps surprising, then, that their sound can best be described as alt-rock, and while the five tracks on here are decent enough, they’re certainly in no way innovative or even all that special. Still, fat, fuzzy basslines are wrapped in spiralling synths on ‘Courage of a Coward’, while ‘Deviant of the Soul’ whips up a fair frenzy and singer Natasha Fox gives it plenty of attitude. It’s well executed and delivered with an appropriate degree of passion, but there are times – as on ‘Polite War’ it all gets a bit Paramore and I can’t help but wonder quite what all the fuss is about.
