Our Rating:
Chasing Waves ep by Giving Into Ghosts

This ep by Cardiff's latest post hardcore outfit pretty much sounds how I imagined it would looking at the artwork. They claim to be inspired by Architects and Reuben and they sound pretty similar to how both of those bands sounded when I saw them live.
They use the soft vocals switching with a growler over typically punishing riffs pretty well without getting all Lacuna Coil about it.

Of the 4 songs on the Ep Sirens is the song that stands out most too me there is an urgency to it and in places it could almost be a bit EMO before the growler starts barking while the softer vocalist tells us they are falling falling into some ocean judging by the artwork.

Do they have enough to make them stand out from all the other bands who sound like this I'm not too sure, but if you like reasonably heavy modern metal there is more than enough to keep you listening even if there is a slight suspicion of some auto tune action on Chasing Waves a song that conjures up waves flooding places rather than the kind you'd chase to surf on.
Also in the band favour is that I can understand most of what the growler growls no matter how angry he sounds on To The Sun that closes the ep in a storm of raging guitars and blast beat drums they probably need to be seen live in a dank sweaty pit of a venue.
