'Dark Little Hearts'

-  Album: 'Dark Little Hearts'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '5th May 2014'

Our Rating:
I know you should never judge a book – or an album – by its cover, but I do think it’s possible to reasonably judge a band by its typeface of choice. ‘Dark Little Hearts’, the second album by Leeds five piece The Idol Dead (or, indeed, tHE iDoL DeaD) is a fair case in point. The ‘typewriter’ lettering at skewed angles screams ‘punk rock’ and sure enough, this is a classic example of Kerrang! Rock with a punk edge. Big chanty choruses, chubby riffs and swagger constitute the main component parts for the 11 tracks here. The other influences the band cite – which include G’n’R, Queen and Foo Fighters are predictable in their manifestations, with big solos and stadium leanings filtering through, while I suspect listing David Bowie as an influence is rather a red herring. Meh.
