Review: 'CHRISTY & EMILY'
'Two Rooms'

-  Label: 'Big Print Records'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '7th April 2014'-  Catalogue No: 'YAM 8'

Our Rating:
This single from the Brooklyn based duo of Christy and Emily opens with Shadow: a quiet, piano-led song with very carefully sung vocals which make it sound like it's meant to be a chill out song. The more I listen to it the more it sounds like a modern re-working of a lost Carole King song; very pleasant but also rather slight almost soundtrack-like.

The B-side, Railroad, is more of a twangy country-ish number that often sounds almost out of tune but purposefully so as they sing about being at home on the railroad. And as the song develops around a slowly-picked guitar figure, it's like we are on the slowest railroad imaginable going through the countryside to nowhere in particular. Quite nice to put on as you go for a picnic, it has a lazy afternoon feel to it.

Not a bad single. It just about manages to not be twee.
