Our Rating:
There’s no pleasure greater than turning everything up to an insane volume. At least, as a band. Screw the listeners. If people like it, great, but making music as ART is all about the release. That certainly seems to be the philosophy of Black Pus.

‘Blood Will Run’ by Black Pus is the first track on this split release. It’s painful. A pulverising, mic-distorting, speaker shredding drum dominates the sound, while a nasty thrash of no-fi noise splinters in the background, and somewhere below hat, there’s a guy shouting that blood will run and making it sound like a promise rather than some idle threat. it’s bloody brilliant. The other Black Pus track is a 14-minute industrio-Kraut clanker, partially submerged beneath a tide of noise that grows and grows until there’s nothing but a surging racket that crashes out of he speakers like a tsunami of sonic insanity.

How do you compete with that? Well, as the press release explains, the three Oozing Wound tracks are pure studio creations, the product of editing down 4 hours of audio into one concise 15 minute blast of primitive riffs, bass moans and lurching drums. This means there’s little to do in terms of describing what it sounds like. And if you’re wondering if it’s any good, then the answer is yes, unless you like tepid indie, easy listening or anything remotely mainstream, in which case get the hell out of here. What are you doing reading about bands called Black Pus and Oozing Wound anyway?
