Juggernaut rock guitars crunch from the speakers on opener ‘Something In the Water’ and while it most obviously brings the Alice in Chains angle of the band’s sound to the fore, it’s equally hard to ignore the fact it sounds rather like The Cult playing ‘Smoke On the Water’. Shaky mid-section aside, it ain’t bad.
‘Back Lake’ brings out the Doorsy blues swagger and the title track is a big 70s rock style track, augmented with some swirly keyboards that bring a psychedelic hue to the solid groove that follow through into the last of the four tracks, ‘Lullaby’ which builds to an anthemic finish.
There are some keen harmonies and some decent tunes here, and as a debut release, it’s certainly promising.
