The opening bars sound like Dinosaur Jr’s ‘Freak Scene’ and while nothing on ‘I Remember’ fits the proto-grunge mould, there’s a crunching guitar that drives the melodic pop stylings of opener ‘Wheels’ and carries forward through the album.
Combining bittersweet elements and steeped in the aesthetic of late 80s and early 90s US scene, Bromide have created a quintessential alt-rock / indie album. There’s a vaguely psychedelic jangle to the melancholic ‘Henry Grimes’ and ‘I Don’t Wanna Get Over You’ has a Merseybeat vibe.
Overall, it’s uptempo and upbeat, with no shortage of tunes or energy.
