‘Somebody Somehere’ offers a radio-friendly country-rock vibe with a ‘na-na-na’ chorus that while catchy doesn’t seem to best exemplify the lyrical prowess she’s built a reputation for over her last two albums, ‘Hunter’ and ‘Spectators’. It also suggests a sound that’s starting to move away from her rootsy origins.
However, although songs like the Fleetwood Mac-like ‘Coming for You’ and the anthemic ‘Never Say Goodbye’ do show Curran evolving in different directions, she does so largely successfully, and elsewhere, songs like ‘The Matador’ and ‘You’ve Changed’ show she’s not lost sight of what she’s best at.
