Review: 'Huntsville'
'Pond'

-  Album: 'Pond' -  Label: 'Hubro'
-  Genre: 'Hip-Hop' -  Release Date: '13th March 2015'

Our Rating:
Certain frequencies play hell with the ears. At least, in my experience: those bass tones that pulse at the eardrums and make them itch. They’re all over ‘(ER)’, the first track on Huntsville’s ‘Pond’. Shuffling, dubby beats loop endlessly over an almost subsonic bassline. Slowly, additional sounds enter the mix: a long, mid-rage hum. Clanking guitars and feedback, way off in the background.

These four long-form tracks, which each span a side of vinyl on the double LP, are big on frequency range and make their aural assault on all levels. It ain’t bad, but functions more as an impressive sonic work than music for pleasure.
