Review: 'Ah! Kosmos'
'Bastards'

-  Album: 'Bastards' -  Label: 'Denovali'
-  Genre: 'Dance' -  Release Date: '24th April 2014'

Our Rating:
Two years from the release of her Flesh EP, Ah! Kosmos unveils her self-produced, full-length debut long-player ‘Bastards’, Simultaneously with a reissue of the aforementioned EP. The music isn’t nearly as confrontational as the titles suggest.

In fact, that ‘Bastards’ contains is a collection of low-key electro grooves with jittery beats and swathes of layered synth that descends like mist. The industrial clatter and persistent, nagging bassline of closer ‘Never Again’ contrasts with the more mellow vibes that float with a soft tranquillity across the bulk of the album.

Comparisons to artists like Laurel Halo, James Holden or Darkside, and the fact Ah! Kosmos has already shared stages with the last two suggests she’s been making inroads to connecting with the right audience. No doubt ‘Bastards’ will see her music’s reach spread further.
