Review: 'Damn Dice'
'The Great Unknown'

-  Album: 'The Great Unknown'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '2th August 2015'

Our Rating:
With some guitars that have a real throbbing chug about them, this could be a colossally heavy affair. But the vocals are light and tuneful and Damn Dice throw out some big melodic choruses.
The squealy licks and ostentatious are kept in check for the most part, which prevents ‘The Great Unknown’ from careering headlong into glammy cock rock territory. So what it is? They namedrop Skid Row, KISS and Hardcore Superstar, and yes, the comparisons stand (tracks like ‘Bang our Head’ and ‘Rock (Like You Mean It’ are as obvious as they come), but the pairing of juggernaut riffing and Alex’s soaring vocals, they sound as much as anything like a metal Mansun.

It shouldn’t work, and I really shouldn’t like it, but they’ve got some decent tunes – pop songs played with hard rock instrumentation and delivered with gusto.
