Review: 'Bastard Sons, The'
'Smoke'

-  Album: 'Smoke' -  Label: 'Kaiju Records'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '7th August 2015'

Our Rating:
Shitting hell: this is rock. The guitars burst from the speakers in an overloading wall of noise, cranked up to the max. And if the songs themselves are relatively standard rock beneath their skin, their skin is one of snakeskin leather, polished with petroleum: this is heavy-duty, incendiary stuff.

Boasting a driving chorus and a killer hook to end all killer hooks, the roaring rage of ‘A Lie is a Lie’ has huge rock radio potential – if Kerrang! radio picked it up it’d be fucking huge (and since it’s been reviewed in the mag and streamed by Metal Hammer, there’s every chance it will be). ‘Sobra La Meure’ has heavy echoes of Alive in Chains and similarly exploits the loud / soft dynamics of classic grunge while incorporating s terrace-chanting mid-section.

With no shortage of grit, there’s plenty to get into here, and the more melodic choruses doesn’t signify weakness by any stretch.
