Review: 'Idols of Apathy'
'Life Lessons (EP)'

-  Genre: 'Heavy Metal' -  Release Date: '4th December 2015'

Our Rating:
Essex tech-metal crew Idols of Apathy managed to garner some respectable coverage with their debut EP, but have been quiet since the middle of 2014. Perhaps they were biding their time, but that kind of gap for an emerging band can be quite a gamble. Still, the five cuts on ‘Life Lessons’ are focused and hard-hitting.

There’s also a lot going on: bowel-shaking bottom-end frequencies rumble low beneath squalling lead guitars that hint at early Korn. The vocals are vengeful howls from the pits of hell. There are moments of melody, but they’re invariably smashed into oblivion with crushing riffage no sooner than they begin. It’s not pretty, but it is powerful, and effective in the way that a ton of would be effective as a paperweight.
