Review: 'Rathborne, Luke'
'Losing It'

-  Genre: 'Indie'

Our Rating:
A little shy of a year on from ‘Why?’ which prefaced the arrival of his debut album ‘Soft’, Rathborne returns with the lead track from follow-up album ‘Again’.

Described as ‘Prince-like, Fine Young Cannibals meets 70’s come Kraut Rock’ with ‘some of the aural Spaceyness of War on Drugs at their best,’ it wafts in on a disco groove over which Luke lays a slightly squeaky falsetto vocal (though nothing nearly as squeaky as ‘Kiss’).

It’s breezy, bouncy, and draped in dreaminess, and the fact it’s not remotely my bag doesn’t mean it doesn’t have massive potential.
