Our Rating:
If there's one thing that fills me with instant dread quicker than a band daring to name themselves after one of the Pixies two finest albums, then it's surely a girly Norwegian band daring to name themselves after one of the Pixies two finest albums.

So far so self-inflicted, then, though thankfully things start to improve when 1) your reviewer learns of the fact singer Mariann actively autographed both male and female organs when on tour with Electric Six and 2) when he swallows hard and finally shoves the CD into the player.

Because "Lucky Lipstick" is in reality a riot of catchy, synthy guitar pop which quickly sandwiches itself into the spaces between The Go-Gos, early Pulp and a less ironic Chicks On Speed, if you can cut me that much slack. It's classic girly night out pop, for sure, but not so exclusive us boys can't dig it as well and basically is big fun spelled out in fat neon capitals.

And it's not alone, either. Second tune "Long Lust" is very much in the same vein, providing the sort of day-glo power pop thrills that never entirely go out of fashion and desert the charts. They then wrap things up with "Bim Bam Boom", where a classic Eurovision title gives way to yet more fizzy thrills and proves that this lot just can't stop writing and recording singles even when they're throwing them away as B-sides. Confidence or foolhardiness? You decide.

Admittedly, I'm not sure this sort of raging, alcopop-fuelled hormonal pop will last the pace over a full length album, but - despite my reservations - it's undeniable in EP format. I get the feeling that a night out with Mariann and co would at the very least lead to losing your inhibitions and quite possibly your trousers along the way.
