GOSN’s second single is a bright sliver of 80s influenced synthpop. The light chopstick motif and bouncy guitars belie the darker subject matter – a tale of two lovers fleeing from an oppressive regime.
Told as what the band call ‘a modern fairy tale’, (for which you could read a Disney version) it’s a story that resonates throughout the ages, but is particularly pertinent in the present. But there’s an optimism that shines through, which makes ‘Comeback Kid’ an undeniably ace pop single.
