Review: 'DER PLAN'

-  Label: 'Bureau B'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '23rd June 2017'

Our Rating:
Moritz Reichelt, Kurt Dahlke (Pyrolator) and Frank Fenstermacher have got together after 25 years and recorded a new album.

In the intervening years they have all honed their songwriting skills and so they claim this work to be less angular and more swinging and I would have to concur. It is essentially a very good left-field electronic pop album with a mild and sunny disposition. Salted with psychedelia and peppered with reggae and dub (Man leidet herrlich).

A song that encapsulates many of these features would be 'Flohmarkt der Gefuhle' but then 'Der Herbst' isn't far behind that. There is certainly an arch pop playfulness at work here and a genuine sense of melody also. A large proportion of these songs are actually very catchy tunes. 'Korperlos im Cyberspace' nods and winks to Kraftwerk and 'Die Hande des Astronauten' even has Beach Boys style harmonies on it.

If I were being critical the album seems to fade away towards the end but this may be deliberate. 'Unkapitulierbar' is an album with a swingular vision.
