Review: 'KENNEY, MO'
'The Details'

-  Label: 'Self Released'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '29th September 2017'

Our Rating:
There's more than one devil in the gory but compelling details of the tunes on this album.

Wielding an electric Fender Mustang in place of the acoustic guitar she used on her first two albums, Mo Kenny fires off fourteen songs in rapid succession. Only two exceed three minutes and three clock in at under a minute, including the title track.

The raw, punchy style plugs into her feisty yet self deprecating attitude. "I'm such a liar, I'm such a cheat" she confesses on June 3rdand despairs that "everything is coming undone" on Out The Window.

Kenney has more than a few axes to grind but being tough doesn't always come naturally. Many of these songs are of self doubt and self destruction but she also turns her raging outwards, particularly on the spiteful If You're Not Dead.

It's a rough ride that follows her ups, but mainly downs, in her life yet ends on a positive not with her Feelin' Good. As she explains "The album starts off kind of hopeless and gets progressively more optimistic". Bruised but not broken in other words. The consolation of having had a shitty time is that she's turned the bitter experiences into some great tunes.
