Review: 'I AM KLOOT'
'PROOF'

Our Rating:
If you've been a regular round these parts for any length of time, you'll realise that this reviewer hasn't exactly been hiding his light beneath a bushel where Hyde's finest I AM KLOOT are concerned.

And bearing in mind "Proof" is arguably his favourite Kloot tune to date, he's hardly liable to pull a surprise U-turn at this stage, so prepare for yet more (thoroughly justified) gushing praise.

What makes "Proof" special, then? A whole host of things. Firstly, the way it develops into the most sublime two and three-quarter minutes from the laziest of acoustic premises; secondly the way Johnny Bramwell's Liam-hugs-Lennon vocals spin the simplest of lines ("Hey, heard you read another book, should take another look...who am I without you?") and make them sound like the most important words you've ever heard and finally the way the trio's less-is-more philosophy counts for absolutely everything here. I think it's a marginally different mix, the little organ bit seems a tad more prominent and Andy Hargreaves' pitter-patter brushes and even the tambourines sound positively heroic, but it's the fact the sum of the parts is infinitely greater that matters. As a bonus, Christopher Ecclestone's in the video too. Result.

In these capable hands, the notion of simple, wisdom-fuelled indie guitar music sounds utterly contemporary and entirely unmissable. I Am Kloot are one of the best bands around anywhere at present, and if you need "Proof", believe me - it's all here.
