Review: 'CAMERA'
'Emotional Detox'

-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '16th November 2018'

Our Rating:
Camera seem to have an ever evolving line up, the only constant through all four of the bands phases being Michael Drummer. They have now expanded to a quintet bringing together two keyboard players from different phases of their existence.

The last album (Phantom Of Liberty) was a real highlight of 2016 so it is with genuine relish I press play on this here download. The motorik origins of the band remain intact, this is music with propulsion but the additional keyboards give it a sci-fi edge, "Gizmo" being a good example of this with nods to Dr Who and Jean-Michel Jarre.

Second track "Patrouille" is the killer track on the album. 12 minutes of ebbing and flowing repetition. Easy work for a DJ. Again the keyboards take it to another level, perhaps even adding a pop sensibility to the overall sound. "Ciao Cacao" is catchy as hell with African overtones in the guitar and a persistent keyboard motif. Nag Nag Nag.

"Cosm" is a short and sweet stomper with a bit of a gnarly edge to it, whilst "Pacific One" is a more moody affair. A whiff of nostalgia hangs in the air. By now the album has settled into a rare groove but Camera still manage to kick it up a notch with "Nicenstein", "Super 8" and Feuerwork". Put simply this is a classic album from a great band. Can't wait for the next one.
