'The Parts That Need Replacing'

-  Label: 'Bandcamp'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '13.3.20.'

Our Rating:
Imagine a world where The Divine Comedy are as obsessed by Bathory rather than the National Express and you will be on your way to understanding where this most unusual of Brighton based bands are coming from.

The opening song on this single The House is a slow paced tour around Elizabeth Bathory's house and the song in the style of Scott Walker meeting The Divine Comedy is lush and richly textural music with lyrics that slowly draw you into this story of wealth and rebellion against an all pervasive church that left her forever stained with the accusations against her.

The Parts That Need Replacing continues and makes the story of Elizabeth Bathory more obvious on a cool catchy indie song that is the polar opposite of how this tale is usually represented musically as this is in no way indebted to black or death metal as it slowly unfolds and draws you into its web.

Rose Devoid Of Form is a rather slight tune of muted electronics and quiet vocals telling another dark tale set in the calm before the storm that like the other two songs on this single ahead of the new album The Quiet Earth will draw listeners in and make you want to hear them a good few times to really get everything that's going on and the single makes the album sound like it will also be well worth hearing.
