Your reviewer must confess previous ignorance of BLIND JACKSON, though the paper chase leads back to them having released two previous singles ("Stop The Clock" and "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?"), building up a live reputation and having garnered considerable airplay on Xfm and Virgin Radio.
Still, new (download only) single "Mess It Up" is a nicely turned introduction, even if I have missed the previous fisticuffs. Recorded at Gizzard Studios in East London (sort've Toe Rag 2 and previously famous for birthing John Peel Sessions) with Holly Golightly producer Ed Deegan at the controls, it showcases a quirky'n'likeably louche beat group affair with elements of the Deltasonic stable and - in the lippy, Jagger-ish vocals and inevitable organ sound - a love for the "Nuggets" box set both rising to the surface.

It's not hugely original, but is surely enormously entertaining gear, with the band's well-drilled playing caught in aspic by Deegan and their natural bounce boding well for their forthcoming debut album. Hearteningly, I also have a sampler of two other tunes from the record which are at least "Mess It Up"s equal and suggest further investigation will be rewarded.
Blind Jackson? See the light and check 'em out.
