Review: 'D4, THE'
'GET LOOSE'

-  Label: 'INFECTIOUS'
-  Genre: 'Punk/New Wave' -  Release Date: '16/9/02'

Our Rating:
And so THE D4's quest to hand out regular sonic fixes from the back of a grimy transit van continues apace as the Auckland boys unleash their coolest single yet.

Previous 45 "Party" was a joined-as-blood-brothers allegiance to joyous hedonism, but, if anything, this one trumps even that raucous shoutalong.

Indeed, "Get Loose" really captures the essence of THE D4'S low-riding, barre-chording brilliance in glorious, screaming techniclour: blitzkreiging in and out in around the 2 minute 30 mark [of course], with one of the most gloriously dumb, let's-push-it-'til-it-bleeds choruses you'll hear this or any other year in "Get up, get out, get loose!".

The zeitgeist is a notoriously fickle animal and will probably try to consign THE D4 to the four winds come next year, but their spunked-up, twin cam attack is so ludicrously infectious and strangely intuitive that I doubt the slings and arrows of a backlash will burn too deeply into their soul.

Laugh all you like: THE D4 will be around for some time. Get used to it and get loose as a goose.
