Review: 'CITY WEEZLE'
'No.2'

-  Label: 'Self Released'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '12th March 2021'

Our Rating:
City Weezle’s founder-member Simon Fleury labels himself a ”vocal Viking” and sounds like Serj Tankian on acid. He sings, does ”baby screams” and plays guitar and banjo.

The band bio tells me the four-piece were founded in Paris in 2005 by this potato lovin’ Irishman.” Cited influences include Mr. Bungle, The Melvins, Frank Zappa and King Crimson. A nod to the latter come in the form a nine minute instrumental entitled Crimson Jig.

The resultant prog-punk-metal sound stew casts caution to the wind and is, to say the least, eccentric.

It’s wild, wordy and energetically throws a bewildering array of styles into the mix hoping some of them will stick.

Few do.
