Review: 'Primitives, The'
'Don't Know Where To Start'

-  Label: 'Happy Happy Birthday To Me Records'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '20.1.23.'

Our Rating:
This is the 12" single version of The Primitives most recent single Don't Know Where To Start that sold out rather quickly when it came out last year. This is The Primitives first single for 5 years.

The ep opens with Don't Know Where To Start that sounds like classic The Primitives, Girl group vocals and indie jangle pop backing, As Tracy Tracy tries to worm her way back into your heart once more, for me this is far better than the band were at Rebellion before the pandemic, but that's probably because they aren't on the wrong bill here, so listening to this in isolation, or in a normal mix this is just a fine slice of catchy pop.

Till I'm Alive is an insistent riff with Paul Court taking lead vocals making this sound more like Ride than The Primitives, as he sings about the aftermath of a crash and being glad to still be with us, it also reminds me of Spitfire.

The B-side opens with a live version of Panic that doesn't sound like it's live in front of an Audience, more live in the studio, which is fine, this is a decent song with Tracy Tracy's vocals drawing you in as the guitars gallop away and she gets all in a Panic about what, well listen and find out.

The ep closes with an acoustic version of Don't Know Where To Start that feels like a demo, but it's also a little quicker than the first version as she tries to worm her way into your heart, will you be able to resist or not?
