Our Rating:
The Noise Who Runs are a new duo formed by Ian Pickering and Felipe Goes, Ian is best known for being part of The Sneaker Pimps, he formed this duo after moving from Hartlepool to Lille. This ep is the second single off the band's debut Preteretrospective LP that comes out on April 7th.

The bands name is a literal translation of the french phrase "bruit qui cour" that means gossip, my gossip concerning the Sneaker Pimps is to dedicate this review to Stephanie Alleyne (sp?) the girlfriend who insisted I take her to see Neneh Cherry and the Sneaker Pimps at Shepherds Bush Empire way back when, before I realized I was just one name on her busy dance card, the gig took place on the day of the week she allotted me.

The Ep opens with a voice stating "It's lonely Without God" at the opening of How U R before all the electronics and guitars kick in on this dance pop anthem, as they make sure to ask you How U R in a way that gets more than a standard pat answer of ok, the vocals are singing something far calmer than the music that's quite frantic.

Cows Come Home opens with glacial synths, with bruised vocals wondering how we arrived at this point in time when the Cows have Come Home and we don't yet know how to deal with it, while admitting they have no idea how to solve the problems they are trying to deal with, among the sustained notes they try to fight the fear and dread that are normal in this day and age.

These Will Be Your Gods as a slow Massive Attack style feel of despair at who we are meant to treat as Gods in this day and age, they seem to have accepted just how doomed we really are without naming any of the people, but more the things you chase after as aspirations.

The ep closes with Little Black Cloud that has synths washing over you as the synth drums almost pulse before the vocals come into express their feelings of waking up feeling depressed full of pain and despair at what's happening around them, as the shuffling beat feels like your ready to mope around, unless you can find a way out of the darkness.
