Our Rating:
What A Day is a new single from The Mystery Plan who are based in the musical hotbed of Charlotte North Carolina it's a taster for the bands forthcoming seventh album Haunted Organic Machines, that's due out at the end of this month. The album has been produced by John Fryer, the band revolve around Jason Herring and Paul Jensen.

The ep opens with What A Day (Disco Mix) that's a modern pop disco, dreamy laid back song, with the vocals letting you know just What A Day it's been, it almost feels like the narration to a film in the style of Downtown 81, only with more 21st century synth pop feel eventually a flute comes in to add a Philly soul edge to the sound.

What A Day (Steve Howerton-Cofflo Remix) is really a piano house mix with some truly, did you have too, autotuned vocals, that don't add anything. Personally, I'd stick with the first mix over this one any day.

Absolute has a cool piano rhythm and handclaps intro as the guitars feel rather textual helping to give this tune a wistful dreamy feel on this reflective instrumental.
