'Constellations'

-  Label: 'True North Records'
-  Genre: 'Folk' -  Release Date: '21st April 2023'-  Catalogue No: 'TND807'

Our Rating:
Canadian Meredith Moon is the daughter of recently deceased Gordon Lightfoot but, wanting to be judged on her own merits, she preferred to keep this quiet until recently.

So let’s just forget I even mentioned it and begin again!

Canadian Meredith Moon taught herself to play Appalachian-style banjo when she was 21 by watching YouTube videos. She went on the road playing a solo support act to a folk-punk band across North America, Central America and western Europe, including Croatia and the Czech Republic. She put out two indie albums but considers her proper debut to be ‘Forest Far Away’ which was released in 2018.

Constellations is first for True North Records contains eight originals plus two traditional tunes arranged by Moon: Soldiers Joy and a medley Needlecase /Blue Goose.

She has a strong, engaging voice and sings traveller’s tales which blend country and folk with some assurance.

It’s easy listening music but also distinctive enough not to confused with her dad.
