This was the seventh 7" single in I-94 Recordings Detroit covers series and was originally released a week before the re-issue of Skip James complete 1931 recordings that I reviewed last year when it was re-issued by ORG Music, it contains the original version of I'm So Glad, although Dany covers the SRC garage rock version. Dany is an itinerant Canadian musician currently based in Montreal, he is backed by The Looks who are Jeanette Dowling and Anna and Mike Mernieks-Duffield. It is available in a variety of colors with some very cool artwork.
You Should Know has sweet soul pop vocals with a powerpop edge alongside classic girl group backing vocals making this charming tune totally irresistible.
I'm So Glad is turned from Skip James spectral original, through the SRC into a garage rock nugget to frug along with, everyone will join in the chorus waiting for the guitar freak out that pays homage to Skip's original guitar solo while obviously sounding a bit more modern and is unmissable.
