Olec Mün is a pseudonym for pianist Marcelo Schnock who was born in Argentina in 1985 and now lives in Spain.
Schnock has visited India and Africa and was impressed by the key role music played in rituals in these countries. The healing power of music has informed his previous five solo releases and is the basis for this 11-track instrumental album.
Titles like Coming Back From War and Cross The Desert suggest the physical endurance and drama of epic travels but there’s also a sense that it is life as a journey which is key to his melodic works. This would explain the naming of other tracks as taglines for personal growth mantras such as Persevering, Facing Truth and Letting Go.
Such a reading is confirmed by a poem on his website : “Music is the ocean. The piano is the boat that will take me to the other side. The other side lies within, it is a place of no place, a time of no time.
