This is the first Vinyl re-issue of Tashi Dorji's debut solo album, that originally came out on Cassette only on Headway Recording in 2012. This experimental record was recorded in Asheville North Carolina.
The album opens with Iron Cloud an avant garde improvised piece of guitar mangling that in places seems inspired by Chinese Opera.
April feels like a light spring drizzle spattering across your speakers in league with John Cage or the Scratch orchestra, inflexions pitter patter carefully spaced.
Macula feels blurry from the opening as it generates and degenerates what can be done to distress the listener with frantic flying notes, shards of sound that recall Fred Frith experimenting dropping rice on his guitar strings, against runs of notes with weirdly out of standard tuning curlicued strumming's, devolving asymmetrically.
Sunder splits into almost classical strummed and picked parts, before angry strums attack the carefully picked parts, leaving the listener with a split dichotomy of sound, part beauty, part ugly nightmare, that leads towards a sea of calm.
Take Shape is rather elliptical musings, as the resonance forms a bass like inflection for distressed notes to strangle, mangle but never jangle.
Moves Southward reimagines a country blues as if being played by someone who has never held a guitar before, strained notes collide with noisenik strumming's played acoustically scraping syntax into your warped mind.
