This is the second volume of ElectrAcoustic by Ruts DC that showcases the arrangements they play live during the acoustic sets they sometimes play live. The stripped back approach works well as it always does live. The album is a mix of classic old songs and tunes from the bands most recent Counterculture album.
The Ruts DC recorded the album at Perry Vale studios with Pat Collier recording and Engineering while Segs Jennings and Dave Ruffy produced the album, as well as being two thirds of the band alongside Leigh Heggarty, the only special guest on the album is Mitt Gamon the renowned Godley & Creme Harmonica wizard who sadly passed away shortly after making this recording.
The A-side opens with Born Innocent stripped back to its core message, worrying about mind control, the state of the world today, as jangling guitars and Ruffy's pinpoint percussion delivers the message that we need to keep fighting for peace.
X Ray Joy asks if we can handle the pain of modern living, do you just want to hide away, as the acoustic guitars punctuate this tale of what happens when it all gets to be too much.
Back Biter has a solid bass riff, that allows Segs to let us know all the ways the back Biter irritates him.
Second Hand Child has feelings of abandonment for that kid that doesn't fit in, over the gently intoxicating acoustic guitars they make clear the pain the kid is in.
Despondency is built around Ruffy's beat, with a solid riff, as all the hurt that leaves us all despondent at how life has become an endless battle for survival.

The B-side opens with a dubbed-out version of Love In Vain, stripped to the core message about a love that's over, with Mitt Gamon's sweet harmonica, Ruffy's expansive percussion helping to make this a super cool version.
Poison Games wonders how you stop playing all those Poison Games over the stripped back sound the guitar line has a real impact in a 70's cop show way.
Faces In the Sky is as catchy as always, as I and I make clear what's been going on, making figuring out the truth impossible, some cool effects decorate the tune.
Different View is a low slow take on this tune, as we work out the best way to change the views to alleviate the danger, if it's not already too late.
