Our Rating:
Evil Blizzard are back with the bands fifth album. This is the first to use a lead guitarist, rather than just the bands usual 4 bassists, but as Kav has jumped ship they chose to go with just three bassists, a lead guitarist and drummer this time.

The only time I've seen Evil Blizzard live I managed about half a set at Rebellion before walking away, to go and see something less repulsive instead, as despite the masks and effort they made it didn't connect to me, so I was a bit worried I might hate this as much as the press release suggested people do. With cover art that features a depiction of the Tyburn Tree they may have something against Catholics or Christians who kill catholics, or ex-prime Ministers who live above the remains of those slaughtered on that tree back in the day.

The album opens with chants of All Pigs With Snouts In The Trough that has a greasy guitar line, what sounds like theremin and that chanted lyric, that sounds like they love our politicians as much as anyone with a bean of common sense does these days, as the nursery rhyme lyrics work within the distain filled tune.

All You Bad, Bad People apparently Evil Blizzard love you and want to cover you in heavy bass riffs, a searing guitar and drums designed to try to knock your teeth out. Probably best heard on a huge club system at immense volume, as half the crowd come up on E and the rest of them have chattering teeth from too much speed.

Professional Driver has a very P.I.L. like approach both vocally and musically, as they claim to not know anyone safer or finer than the Pro driver they are, well this Professional driver might argue with them. Musically this is intense screeds clattering across the room.
Tiny People is for that time they went to a small club full of Tiny People, do they not realize that nurseries are not nightclubs, or where they that wasted they didn't realize.

Clouds Like Ghosts has an imperious bassline slowly tolling, evolving making the fear and wails of the ghosts of Tyburn echoing through Tony Blair's house come to life.

Lullaby will more likely give you nightmares than a good night's sleep, as the slow chanted vocals implore you to sleep well and dream well no matter what dystopian nightmare you might be living through.

Rotting In The Belly Of The Whale has a galloping bass riff derived from the Dr Who theme, as they take a dark look at the disturbing crap our governments have put us through, while being corrupt thieving assholes.

Darkness is an 11 minute plus hymn to the dying and distressed of the last few years, slow thoughtful with the pain of our times running through it. About 6 minutes in the drummer suddenly ups the pace as they try to drive all the pain away.

The album closes with a trip to Marble Arch for the tale of The Buried Believers those that wouldn't convert to Protestantism, those that hung on the Tyburn Tree, later post death indignities including the Playboy mansion being above those rotting corpses, as they tell us to be thankful for what you've got and surviving the mess that is covid and the last few years.
