Our Rating:
Something Pop is the ninth album by Texan power poppers The Pozers this album was recorded by Jim Richey and the Pozers at Abbey Road with Matt Sharp producing the album and Joey C Jones from the Glory Hounds in the Executive producer's chair.

The album opens with And You Love that opens as if they are tuning up at the beginning of a concert performance, before the gentle strings and piano intro leads you into The Pozers world of glossy power pop, full of yearning as he admits the girl he loves doesn't love him. The heartache and pain are cossetted in sweet harmonies.

Save A Kiss For Me is thankfully nothing to do with the Brotherhood Of Man Eurovision monument, as he only wants one kiss not all of them, yes he's begging and pleading hoping, if you'll just give in and give him that kiss.

Alison With An Edge is a dangerous thing, she's a full on slice of perfect power pop, with the ability to make you do all her bidding, without ever getting bitter like your Elvis Costello, as this Alison will always have an edge for you, as she's no innocent.

What You Do To Me is a little bit slower as we find out just how besotted he is with you.

It's All About You is pretty urgent as they list all the things, they want to make clear about why it's over, why they want to be left alone, no more self-centered narcissism, please stop hanging around them, but before you leave just listen to the guitar solo you've inspired, as the voices chatter away.

Make Up is an apology of sorts, not sure you'll be happy to hear what he has to say, but well open your heart and let the sweet melodies invade your heart to allow him once more chance.

Her Facade is wrapped up in tight harmonies helping you to get over having your heart broken again, such sweet power pop, with carefully placed guitar solo pulling at those heart strings once more.

Missing You (Missing Me) has a basic almost low-fi Mersey beat feel to it, as he wonders how to get back to feeling balanced and normal after all that went on to destroy the love they had.

If I Asked You Once Again has hazy sounds of autumn shading all the reflective vocals as the sadness has come over them, they beg for one last chance to let love back into their hearts.

Ease Off My heart has sweet vocals claiming that they won't hurt you as much as you've hurt them, no recriminations it's just time to move on, as those backing vocals help you on your way.

The bonus acoustic tracks start with the sparse acoustic version of What You Do To Me that feels more heartfelt played with the minimum of fuss, but loads of feeling.

Missing You (Missing Me) (Acoustic) has shaken tambourine percussion, lush harmony vocals that somehow makes all the pain at the heart of the song seem more poignant than the full band version.

If I Asked You Once Again once its stripped back, to acoustic guitars and harmony vocals, seems to make the way your being shown the door feel more filled with regret, as he seems to really hope to have one more stroll around with you.

The album closes with the acoustic take of Ease Off My Heart that has a Chris Bell style feel to the yearning vocals, with genteel percussion as he pleads to be let off all the pain and sorrow allowing life to go on once again.
