Review: 'Astor,Pete and Die Liga Der Gewohnlichen Gentlemen'
'Alle Ampeln Auf Gelb/ Wie Frankie Lymon'

-  Label: 'Tapete Records/Wallpaper Records'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '5.1.24.'

Our Rating:
This is a split 7" single where Pete Astor covers Die Liga Der Gewohnlichen Gentlemen's German hit and they cover The Weather Prophets classic Wie Frankie Lymon.

The ep's A-side opens with the soft organ sounds of Amber Lights the Die Liga Der Gewohnlichen Gentlemen song, as the slow strummed guitar comes in Pete tells us a tale about Germany in the 1960's and the strange traffic lights that were always on Amber, how it got to Peter-Ernst Eiffe this is a strange and affecting tale.

The German language version Alle Ampeln Auf Gelb is half a minute shorter but no less strange and intriguing, the percussion appears a bit more upfront, but the organ Is the thing that anchors this song and makes me want to play it over and over.

The Ep's B-side is Die Liga Der Gewohnlichen Gentlemen's version of Wie Frankie Lymon where this tragic tale is sung in German, as a spare keyboard part is adorned with gently evocative acoustic guitar and cool harmony backing vocals that give way to a rather forlorn but pertinent sax solo.
